It’s my weekly recap, a too long, didn’t read guide to whatever I’ve typed over the past week.
Monday — If You Have to Hold Someone Back so You Can Win — We learned that Hank Aaron received death threats as he was approaching Babe Ruth’s HR record. This led to some thinking of just how dumb the racist mindset is in sport.
Tuesday — Emotion Journal — One of my students was really listening when I talked with students about using writing to help you to live with your emotions. She started a journal so she can write her way out of her tough times.
Wednesday — Making You Look Good — A student of mine puts their wants ahead of everyone else, pretty much every time. We talked about how in improv, it’s your goal to make the person you’re working with look good, and it’s their goal to do the same for you. What if we apply that thinking to our classroom relationships?
Thursday — Some Days Will Annoy You — Some days, even when you can’t put your finger on why, just won’t work right. That’s okay! Do your best to get through.
Friday — Sometimes It Works Better than You Realize — We’ve had a tremendous time studying Black History Month biographies this month. Even so, through a parent’s post on Facebook, I’m realizing how much our lessons are connecting with my students.
Saturday — No Saturday Post — Saturday was over-busy. In the evening, I was too tired to function, and woke up Sunday to realize I hadn’t posted. It’s okay to hop off, catch your breath, and hop back on once in a while.
That’s all! Take care, my friend.
